Yet, David was called a man after God's own heart.
Last week, we looked at his family troubles, which almost cost him the kingdom.
A Wandering Eye
It all started when he wasn't in battle like he should've been. Instead, he got sloppy and stayed home, letting Joab handle it.
Then, a woman caught his eye as David strolled around his roof.
Not just any woman. The wife of one of his mighty men, Uriah the Hittite. Loyal Uriah was by David's side when he fled from King Saul.
They had fought and bled together.
At that moment, Uriah was off fighting for David. David called in Uriah's wife, Bathsheba, and slept with her.
At the minimum, David is an adulterer. He should've been stoned for that. An argument could be made for rape. David was the king, and one doesn't tell a king no.
It was also punishable by stoning.
