Election Proofing Your Life
This election season has been crazy. At first, we thought it would be Commander Cheeto versus Grandpa Joe. Then, a dude took a shot at the former, and his popularity skyrocketed. It pumped me up.
Then the Democrat leadership (Obama, Pelosi, Jeffries, and Schumer) threatened a defiant Biden with the 25th Amendment since they couldn't hide his dementia anymore. They were losing money and popularity.
They crowned Kamala to be the heir-apparent.1
The day before this was set to publish Trump had another guy trying to take a shot at him.
One of them is going to lose, and the other side is going to be ticked. If the Democrats lose, they'll torch cities because that's what leftists do. I have the receipts.234
If they win, it's gonna suck because progressivism is regressive.
What can you do about it?
I say become antifragile. The less effect culture and society have on you, the better. Antifragility makes you stronger.
Coined by Nassim Nicholas Taleb in his book Antifragile: Things That Gain from Disorder, antifragility goes beyond resilience or robustness.
A resilient system resists shocks and remains the same. It's like you punched Mike Tyson. He can take it.
A robust system endures without significant change.
The antifragile system improves and grows stronger through adversity. It's like the Hulk; it just keeps getting stronger.
What is Antifragility?
When you're antifragile, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Within limits, obviously. Physical training is an example.
Unlike fragile systems that break under pressure, antifragile systems thrive and improve when exposed to challenges. Antifragility can be applied to individuals, organizations, economies, and physical and mental health.
Fragile vs. Robust vs. Resilient vs. Antifragile
Fragile: Breaks down or deteriorates under stress (e.g., a delicate glass vase).
Robust: Endures stress without significant change (e.g., a sturdy steel beam).
Resilient: Returning to its original state after stress (e.g., a rubber ball).
Antifragile: Improves and strengthens with stress (e.g., muscle growth through exercise).
The Importance of Antifragility
We don't know what's coming. I didn't have Trump getting shot, Biden dropping out, and Kamala stepping in on my bingo card. That was just in two weeks.
In trying times, you survive, persist, or thrive. Dying is the alternative. Let's look at thriving.
